JumpSeat ("we," "our," or "us") operates the JumpSeat mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information that you voluntarily provide, including:

  • Email address - Required for account creation and authentication via magic link
  • User-generated content - Reports, comments, votes, and confirmations you submit
  • Profile information - Display name and optional profile information
  • Communications - Support requests or feedback you send to us

b. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, we may automatically collect:

  • Location data - Precise location information when you create reports or view the map (used to display reports and airports on the map)
  • Device information - Device type, operating system, app version (2.0.0)
  • Usage data - Anonymous usage statistics related to app functionality and performance
  • Log and diagnostic information - Error monitoring and troubleshooting data

Location Data: The App requires location permissions to display reports and airports on the map, and to allow you to create location-based reports. Location data is only collected when you actively use location-based features. You can disable location services in your device settings, though this will limit certain app functionality.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide core services - Operate and maintain the App, including real-time report synchronization
  • Authentication - Authenticate users via email-based magic link authentication
  • User-generated content - Display and manage reports, comments, votes, and confirmations
  • Location services - Display reports and airports on the map, enable location-based reporting
  • Improve the App - Analyze usage patterns to improve performance, reliability, and user experience
  • Communication - Send authentication emails, app updates, or respond to support requests
  • Compliance - Meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

3. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate the App, including:

  • Supabase – For authentication (magic link email delivery), data storage, real-time synchronization, and backend services
  • Google Maps (via react-native-maps) – For map display and location services on Android devices

These services may process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect your information in accordance with their own privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal information.


4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share information only:

  • With service providers - Necessary third-party services (Supabase, email delivery) to operate the App
  • User-generated content - Reports, comments, and votes you submit are visible to other users of the App (your email address is not shared)
  • Legal compliance - To comply with legal obligations, lawful requests, or court orders
  • Safety and security - To protect the rights, safety, or integrity of users or the App

Public Content: Reports, comments, and votes you submit are publicly visible to other App users. Your email address and account information remain private.


5. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to:

  • Provide the App - Maintain your account and user-generated content
  • Legal requirements - Meet legal, accounting, or regulatory requirements
  • User requests - Until you request deletion of your account

Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@jumpseat.app. Note that user-generated content (reports, comments) may remain visible to other users even after account deletion, as it is part of the public dataset.


6. Data Security

We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including:

  • Secure authentication via Supabase
  • Encrypted data transmission
  • Secure storage of user credentials

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.


7. Children's Privacy

JumpSeat is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.


8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

  • Access - Request access to your personal information
  • Update - Update or correct your account information
  • Delete - Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt-out - Disable location services in your device settings
  • Withdraw consent - Where applicable, withdraw consent for data processing

Location Controls: You can control location data collection through your device settings. Disabling location services will limit map functionality and the ability to create location-based reports.


9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

We will notify users of material changes via email or through the App.
